RESPONSIBILITIES:

FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR 2Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), to provide comprehensive financial support and administer financial activities related to the daily operations of OVPR headquarters under the supervision of the director for finance and research administration.  Responsibilities include performing monthly account reviews and reconciliations; maintaining OVPR detailed commitment report and other spreadsheets/reports; monitoring accounts to ensure compliance with MIT policies and consistency with approved allocations and budgets; administering OVPR operating expenses to ensure timely creation of POs, payment of RFPs and invoices, and approval of P-card and travel expenses; administering pre- and/or post-award financial activities and advising and educating principal investigators and staff on research administration, including MIT policies/systems and federal regulations; assisting with proposal review and approval; assisting with reconciling and managing research cost sharing; assisting with generating and distributing F&A under-recovery reports and reviewing and processing correcting entries; maintaining internal under-recovery commitment spreadsheets; assisting with the annual budget process and monthly and fiscal year-end closings; working with OVPR and department, lab, and center (DLC) staff to resolve moderately complex financial issues; developing and maintaining financial reports, analyses, and forecasts; providing financial and operational support for satellite operations and programs; and handling special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree; at least three years’ accounting or finance experience; strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; ability to multitask and prioritize work; meticulous attention to detail; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); discretion and judgment with confidential information; and ability to learn changing technologies related to grants and contracts management.  PREFERRED: MIT experience and working knowledge of its financial systems, e.g., SAP, Kuali Coeus, Coupa (B2P), Cognos, and QuickBase.  Job #23009-7
