DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
GBH Finance Department is responsible for establishing and maintaining the internal financial control structure and environment that enables GBH and affiliated entities to comply with all the applicable laws, regulations, and policies. This encompasses the various business needs of GBH, including the following functions: Treasury, tax, financial reporting and analysis, payroll, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, and maintenance of the general ledger.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Investment Operations Analyst functions in a professional capacity within GBH’s Finance department and reports to the Senior Treasury Manager. The Investment Operations Analyst role performs analysis for GBH’s cash, investments, and endowment activity. Working closely with GBH’s Accounting team, external investment advisor, investment fund managers, and external auditors, the successful candidate will be hands-on and collaborative, responsible for managing the investments inbox, including processing capital call requests and subscription documents. This role requires a knowledge of banking, investment operations, and financial instruments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Senior Treasury Manager with daily, weekly, and monthly cash positioning for operating and endowment accounts by utilizing balance information from various bank platforms.
- Assist with the daily management and oversight of endowment cash accounts and investment portfolios, including working with external investment managers, GBH’s investment advisor, and banks.
- Facilitate various account opening and modification documentation with banking partners, brokerage firms and investment managers.
- Manage the investments inbox, processing capital call requests and subscription documents for management review and signature.
- Review external investment management’s advisor’s reports for accuracy prior to quarterly investment committee meetings.
- Prepare quarterly investment committee memos and communications for voting requests.
- Process requisition and purchase orders, as it relates to new and approved investment commitments, while ensuring timely processing of capital calls.
- Obtain monthly account statements and K-1s for all funds and investments, ensuring timely receipt for accounting close.
- Complete monthly investment roll forward, tracking realized/unrealized gains and losses, investment income/loss, and management fees. Work with the Assistant Controller and the Senior Treasury Manager on specific coding and methodology for various private investments and hedge funds.
- Maintain daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations related to endowment cash, endowment to net assets, permanently restricted endowment, and unfunded commitments.
- Perform work related to endowment accounting, such as the annual endowment allowed spend calculation.
- Coordinate with the accounting team on tracking endowment-related gifts.
- Provide endowment and investment support for annual audit requests, from the accounting team and external auditors.
- Work closely with the Assistant Controller and the Senior Treasury Manager on reconciliations for outside managed trusts, gift annuities, pooled income, charitable remainder trusts, perpetual trusts, and split interest agreements.
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to endowment, annual endowment allowed spend, investment activity, gift annuities, pooled income, and charitable remainder trusts.
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects, completing various analysis or improvements to processes as needed for Treasury.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong Excel skills are required, including pivot tables and macros.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with multiple departments simultaneously.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business/Accounting or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years related work experience in Banking, Investment Operations, Finance, Treasury, or Accounting.
- Knowledge of financial instruments, including private fund investments, investment accounting presentations, or performance reporting is a plus.
- Direct experience in accounting for investments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity with internal controls over accounting and financial reporting.
