The role of treasury has evolved into that of being a strategic advisor for the business. CFOs are relying of treasurers to be custodians for risk management policies, to protect cash, and to achieve an optimal liquidity structure by effectively managing working capital.

Bitcoins have gotten much more traction than early detractors and pundits expected. With that reality, what do banks need to do, if anything, to prepare for their existence and surprising acceptance? This session will present the fundamental workings of virtual currencies with an emphasis on bitcoin and the current state of the regulatory front. We will get your thinking caps energized as to how bankers and corporate treasury folks might approach virtual currencies and some thoughts about what the future might hold for bitcoin.

Ray Graber has a deep and thorough understanding of banking, technology, and finance. His business experience includes banking technology research at TowerGroup; best practices internet security policies and procedures at FleetBoston Financial; wire transfer operations and product launches at Citibank and BankBoston; and treasury operations for a $325M public company.
He was an adjunct professor at the Carroll School of Management MBA and MSF Programs at Boston College and at the Bentley College Graduate Business Program.
Ray holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and an MBA in Finance and MIS, both from Boston College.
Maria Logiopoulou is a International Treasury Sales Officer in the Global Treasury Solutions (GTS) Team for the North East US Region. She specializes in working with Commercial global clients to optimize their cash management structure worldwide. Prior to joining the US team Maria was a Director in the Global Treasury Solutions (GTS) Officers Team in EMEA and was responsible for more than 30 UK headquartered clients with Global GTS relationships. Industries include consumer products, technology and telecoms.
Maria joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in October, 2010 after four years with ABN AMRO and subsequently Royal Bank of Scotland in London where she performed a similar GTS relationship role. Prior to that, she spent eighteen years at Citi in Athens, Greece, specializing in Cash Management and Trade Products. She is a graduate in Statistics and Computer Science, from the University of Athens, (Athens Business School). She has also studied History of French Arts at the University of Paris -Sorbonne.
