Crane Data’s Peter Crane and SSGA’s Will Goldthwait will give an update on institutional money market funds and cash investment alternatives following the October 14 implementation of new money fund reforms. They’ll review the big shift of Prime fund assets into Government money market funds, and will give an early assessment of how the new floating NAV and emergency gates & fees are working. Crane and Goldthwait will also discuss spreads and the impact and reaction of funds to a Federal Reserve rate hike, as well as the big buildup in fund liquidity. Finally, he’ll review a number of new (and old) alternatives, including bank deposits, private funds, ultra-short bond funds and other emerging cash investment options.

Peter Crane is President & Publisher of Crane Data LLC, a money market and mutual fund information firm. Crane was previously Vice President & Managing Editor of iMoneyNet. He studied economics at Brown University and has been quoted extensively on money market funds.
Will Goldthwait
Will is a Vice President, Portfolio Strategist at State Street Global Advisors. He is a member of the Global Cash and Global Fixed Income Investment Management Teams. Will is responsible for the communication of cash and fixed income investment strategy and performance to clients, consultants and prospects. Prior to joining SSGA in 2014, he spent time on both the advisory and brokerage side of the business. Will received his BA from Roanoke College and has his Series 7 and 63 Securities License.
Mike Graham
Mr. Graham began his career programming mainframe applications as part of the General Electric Information Systems Management Program and followed that up by developing insurance rating systems for General Reinsurance. In 1994 he joined the first Windows-based treasury workstation software company and has been dedicated to helping clients implement treasury automation ever since. With more than 20 years of corporate finance and treasury system implementation experience Mr. Graham, in his partnership role, is called upon to perform financial system functional assessments, evaluate alternatives for clients, and facilitates his team to a Success Delivered implementation. As a functional consultant Mr. Graham has experience implementing treasury modules with PeopleSoft and Oracle EBS, as well as five other third-party treasury systems. He currently provides treasury management consulting services that provide a best-practice perspective to corporate finance system challenges.
