David Bridges is a senior geopolitical and security analyst at Fidelity Management & Research Company (FMR Co.), the investment advisor for Fidelity’s family of mutual funds. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing and other financial products and services to more than 20 million individuals, institutions and financial intermediaries. In this role, Mr. Bridges provides expert geopolitical assessment to Fidelity investment staff. Prior to joining Fidelity in 2012, Mr. Bridges served a 25-year career in the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) Clandestine Service. He retired from the CIA in 2011. At the time of his retirement, he was a member of the Senior Intelligence Service, the elite leadership team that guides CIA activities across the globe. Over the course of his career, Mr. Bridges held a number of critical positions, to include executive direction of all CIA activity in Russia, the former Soviet Union, central and eastern Europe, and the Balkans, operational command of all CIA offensive and defensive counterintelligence operations worldwide, and several assignments as chief of station. In recognition of his outstanding work, he received CIA’s Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, the George Bush Award for Excellence in Counterterrorism, the Donovan Award (the Clandestine Service’s highest honor), and several Director of Central Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citations. Prior to joining CIA, Mr. Bridges spent five years working for a peacekeeping force in the Middle East. He has been in the investments industry since 2012. Mr. Bridges earned his bachelor’s degree with high honors from Dartmouth College and his master’s degree from the University of Chicago’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies. He speaks five languages.
